Tailored swimming coaching for SEND children .
In the heart of Cornwall.
Our experienced coaches support children (aged 4+) with disabilities and neurodivergence, in small bespoke classes.

We Are Highly Experienced…
In working with SEND and neurodiverse children.
And after many years of coaching we understand how essential it is that a child with disabilities feels safe, heard and supported in the water. Our coaches tailor each session to the individual’s specific needs, in a relaxed, nurturing environment.
When your child has a disability or neurodivergence, we know that they need extra support in a completely accepting space. Here, we use a creative approach and adapt to each child, so they can reach their full potential.
Whether it’s a physical disability, learning disability or neurodivergence, we have a passion for helping SEND children thrive in the water! We support them step by step through each new experience and challenge.
Our swimming coaches are also fully trained with epipens and first-aid.
When coaching children with disabilities, we know the importance of taking time to genuinely understand the challenges your child faces, to think outside the box and tailor-make our sessions.
This is a space of complete acceptance and accessibility.
Navigating life with an SEND or neurodiverse child requires a deep level of care, patience and creativity - and our experienced swimming coaches and trained lifeguards are passionate about welcoming every single child to the water.
Some kind words …
We keep our classes small for a calm, attentive environment.
The pool is always warm and we find ways to make each session fun!
Neurodivergent children (such as children with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and PDA) sometimes have difficulty focusing, and in these cases we encourage your child with different activities that engage them. Your child can move around freely as we discover what works for them.
One of our coaches, Julia, is so passionate about supporting non-neurotypical children that she is currently completing her certificate in TQUK Level 2 Understanding Autism to gain an even deeper insight into how to fully support learners with Autism.
In this extensive 12-week course, there are 4 units, each focusing on a different aspect of navigating life with Autism.
Whether it’s changing how we deliver our teaching, taking the time to talk with the family to understand the child’s unique needs and challenges, and ensuring that your child feels safe and fully supported, we work to go above and beyond.
WITH GRATEFUL THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS
Can You Help Us Accomplish Our Mission?
Kernow Lighthouse is a swim school that enables, empowers and enriches SEND children.
With smaller classes of 1-4 learners, specialist equipment and bespoke tailoring to each individual, our school takes a little more investment to run.
We could charge more for each session, but we don’t. Why?
We seek to make our personalised sessions as accessible to all as possible.
If you would like to make a donation to support our work (and keep our rates low!) please see our fundraising page or make a donation here.
All donations/sponsorship are gratefully appreciated.
Also, if anyone has a pool or pool time that you would like to make available to us, please get in touch using the Contact form below.
